Wally had a hard life when he first came to Islip Animal Shelter. When he arrived as a stray, he was about 10 years old, and had clearly spent most of his life abroad. Despite everything, Wally just needed someone to love him from the beginning, and his new shelter mates rushed to give him all the love and attention he was missing.
Wally suffered from a terrible skin disease and was blind in one eye, among other medical concerns, and he certainly had a distinctive appearance. His new companions were worried that his unusual appearance might turn away potential families, but they hoped everyone would see the great dog they had quickly fallen in love with.
“He loves to drool on you and will do anything for some food,” Danielle Gurley, a veterinary technician at the Town of Islip Animal Shelter, told The Dodo. “He also likes to hang out and do nothing.”
Wally has a lot of love to give and just wants to find a family to share it with, but the sweet pup has been at the shelter for almost a year.
Wally, an elderly dog, just wants to spend his golden years in peace, and his rescuers are desperately trying to find him a forever family as soon as possible, as shelter life is wearing him down.
“He seems to be declining,” Gurley noted. “When he first arrived, he was cheerful. He loves going out, but he seems miserable at home.”
Wally will thrive in a quiet environment free of stairs, children under 15, and other pets. Wally also needs a home that knows his medical needs, but other than that, all he wants is love, which he will give you unconditionally.
Wally has had a bad life, and all he wants to do now is spend the rest of his days embraced by a family that adores him.
