GLAMOUR was fortunate enough to attend a special showing of Beauty and The Beast, and we were blown away by how fantastic it was! Belle’s iconic yellow gown truly stole the show. Emma Watson shared her experience of wearing the enchanting dress, describing it as “flawless” and feeling like a “fantasy” to twirl around in.

The costumes in the film, created by award-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran, were meticulously crafted with precision and care for each character. Designing Belle’s iconic ball gown proved to be the most challenging task, as fans adored her classic yellow dress from the animated movie. Countless deliberations were held to nail down the design, shade, and fabric choice to maintain the beloved look in the live-action adaptation.

Jacqueline shared the process of choosing the dress for our film, explaining that the decision to make it a bright yellow was a nod to the animated original. To give it a unique touch, they added extra embellishments and aimed for a more realistic look. The final gown was made from layers of lightweight satin organza in a sunny yellow hue (a total of 180 feet), designed in a wide circular shape, and put together with an impressive 3,000 feet of thread.

The highest two floors were adorned with a lovely gold leaf design that perfectly complemented the detailed rococo flooring in the ballroom. In addition, they were embellished with a dazzling array of 2,160 shimmering Swarovski crystals.
