Prepared for Trouble: The film “The Bling Ring,” helmed by Sofia Coppola, is inspired by a true story about a group known as The Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch, who gained infamy for their series of burglaries in 2009 targeting celebrity homes, including that of Paris Hilton.
Art mimicking reality: Although the characters’ names and situations have been altered, the movie follows a central group of four girls and one boy, with two additional men involved in handling the stolen items, as they set out to emulate their idols.
Time for a shopping spree: In the trailer, two teenagers are causing chaos in Paris’ wardrobe.
Soft target: The infamous Bling Ring reportedly set their sights on the reality star initially because they believed she was careless enough to leave her doors unlocked and not protect her expensive possessions.
Emma’s character in the movie was inspired by the real-life story of Alexis Neiers. After her arrest, Alexis even had her own reality show. However, in 2010, she found herself back in trouble, as she was arrested once again for being in possession of heroin, as shown in her mug shot.
Can you spot the difference? There’s a lot of excitement surrounding Emma’s portrayal as the group’s leader, even though her character ‘Nicki’ is actually not the one in charge in real life.
Anticipations are running high for the upcoming film scheduled to hit theaters in June.
